3 . Advocate. Sign the petition at HCAN. There's been a flub in the system and unfortunately Eric, like many others, have fallen through the cracks. Our leaders need to be made aware that we need change and they need to do the right thing.

5. Donate $1. or more to the LifeGiver Project, the proceeds of which benefit Eric De La Cruz and/or other heart transplant patients in his situation (see below for more information).

Quick update: here w Eric. Still in ICU CCU and he is undergoing kidney dialysis. They wheeled a huge machine into his room and hooked him (cont'd..) Up to it through a line in his neck. He had that done yesterday & complained it was painful and he couldn't move much. He is sleeping again (cont'd..) After finishing lunch. His doctors said his sodium level was low enough 4 him to enjoy a tuna melt! He was so happy. He has been on severe (cont'd..) Salt and fluid restrictions so being able to eat a tuna melt was a joy for him. He also had a little bit of 7 up. It was the the first time (cont'd..) he actually ate the whole thing, normally he takes a few bites and is done with his food. I have been working diligently all morning every (cont'd..) free second I get (norm when the nurses kick us out, or Eric falls asleep) 2 get stuff done. Wrote a bunch of emails, made alot of calls & (cont'd..) wrote another letter to Social Security, which I hope and pray will make the difference in Eric's case. I just faxed it 2 them and now have (cont'd..) 2 wait 4 it to go before a judge 2morrow. I'm so nervous and excited all at the same time. I spoke w Sen. Reid/Ensigns offices this morning (cont'd..) & they confirmed they got my letters I wrote the day before. I am hoping and praying now that we will get a break in this case. Please.#ERIC

Thank u all! Your prayers and support mean so much to me, my Mom and Eric. He is going into his last 30 mins of dialysis (4.5 hours-whew) (cont'd..) So we r goin 2 go & sit w him. He even says he wants 2 try 2 play Scategories! HUGE improvement. He hasn't had energy so I am happy 2 hear.

A Letter from Trent:

This is for something important. Eric De La Cruz is dying and needs a heart transplant. He keeps getting turned down for a transplant list because he's on Nevada Medicaid, and there are no transplant centers in Nevada. We want to get involved and hopefully so do you, so we're extending a hand. His sister Veronica (former Anchor and Internet Correspondent for CNN) has started a campaign to save his life.

Eric's situation shines a bright light on a broken health care system, and his particular set of problems are being addressed on the political front, aiming for reform in addition to the need for immediate financial help to keep him alive TODAY. I think we can help with the latter.

Here's what we're offering - three options:

If you have a ticket to a NIN/JA show: if you donate $1,000 to this cause, we'll invite you to come hang out with us before the NIN/JA show of your choice. You and a guest can watch soundcheck, eat dinner backstage with us, take pics / get autographs and watch the show from the side of the stage if you'd like.

If you donate $300, you and a friend can join us for soundcheck and a handshaking / hug session before doors open at the NIN/JA show of your choice.

If you do NOT have a ticket to a NIN/JA show: if you donate $1,200 to this cause, we'll invite you to come hang out with us before the NIN/JA show of your choice and provide 2 tickets (best available). Eric is sleeping now. Just had some chest xrays done. Hasn't been doing well today. Exremely uncomfortable and internist stressed we need (cont'd..) 2 move him asap. Been hoping to strenghten heart enough to take him to LA w/o med transport but doesn't look like that will b case. Other (cont'd..) problem is they can't do an official transfer bc of lack of insurance so if we transport in ambulance and they drop him off apparently they (cont'd..) r breaking a law - "dumping". So we'd have 2 transport as close to hosp as poss&take him into ER ourselves. Talk about a screwed up system.

I have a second to write. They moved Eric to ICU bc he hasn't had any kidney output for a gew days and they want to start dialysis. He is (cont'd..) scared bc he has never had it done before. They are also swapping out meds in his IV drips. They tried to take him off a few and he did not (cont'd..) react well. They r hoping 4 diff strategy. Doctors wanted 2 try transport today but now its back 2 trying 2 get him stable enough to do so.

Eric is scared of dialysis. If anyone can share their exp. pls do. Keep him in ur prayers in meantime. www.weloveeric.com #ERIC

I have some time 2 write again. They just took Eric to get his line started 4 dialysis. I know his kidney doctor was hoping it wouldn't come (cont'd..) 2 this point but he hasn't had any kidney output 4 a few days and there is lots of fluid buildup, maybe 30+ lbs. They keep changing the meds (cont'd..) around hoping for a better response. I keep telling him if he can just hang in there long enough to get to CA, we can get him some kind of (cont'd..) assist device that will mke him feel better & help the blood flow to the rest of his organs. Sadly, they don't perform those procedres here.

In the meantime I'm sitting in his hospital room in ICU CCU and get better reception here so I'm gonna try to get some email done. I'm also (cont'd..) going 2 try to fill out some forms sent over by Sen. Ensigns office. The good news is after all the media attn, the offices of Ensign, Reid (cont'd..) and Titus all called. But the sad thing is, it shouldn't have 2 take Ch. 8 & 13 asking them why this is happening 4 Eric 2 get help.

@teka there is progress from offices, but its still not fast enough. Right now I am filling out forms that allow me to act on his behalf and (cont'd..) @teka get med records. After they take the letter I wrote today to SS and review. Then they put it before a judge and then judge decides.

I decided to do a closing reception for "@," but for a very good reason.

Eric De La Cruz (brother of former CNN reporter Veronica) needs a heart transplant.He needs a heart transplant. Unfortunately, there is a lot of red tape involved, and getting on the list is not easy.

Eric has a preexisting medical condition and we can't get him insurance. We have been fighting to get him Medicare disability.

I'm going to bring my old drawings from "Flexible Reality," along w/ new drawings to sell. 100% of the art I sell will go towards Eric's heart transplant. There will be an opportunity for you to make a donation to support Eric.
