Wooooooo! Sorry, but I feel like screaming right now, I am so happy! Just finished a debrief with the drs & #Eric's surgery was a success! (cont'd..)They are very happy with the way things went in the O/R. We just left the hospital and #Eric is on a ventilator but sleeping soundly. We r (cont'd..)completely exhausted but HAPPY & RELIEVED!!! Eric's main CT surgeon said that after seeing his heart, it was a miracle that Eric was still (cont'd..)alive. They said his heart was barely moving. They actually called it "immobile". They also said it was one of the biggest hearts they had (cont'd..)ever seen. Eric's heart has been so badly damaged, it's expanded quite a bit. If you make a fist right now, that is what the size of your (cont'd..)heart probably is. They said that #Eric's heart is the size of a cantaloupe. His heart takes up the majority of his chest cavity and sits (cont'd..)completely on his right lung. The doctor said that we still have a long way to go, but please, I just want to celebrate this one victory. I (cont'd..)feel like we've come so far and this is such great news. I can't tell you how relieved we are. We are very, very, very happy. His vitals (cont'd..)looked pretty good. before we left the hosp His BP was up. And the most important thing: the surgery went well. We honestly can't ask for (cont'd..)much more. Good morning #ETA (ERIC's Twitter Army)... still beaming from news last night. Noelle's been at the hospital while Eric sleeps so it's given (cont'd..)me and Mom the luxury of waking up slowly. I have to tell you guys....I CAN'T STOP SMILING! I've been grinning from ear to ear all morning (cont'd..)since I opened my eyes. Noelle says that #Eric has been sleeping pretty soundly. He has only opened his eyes once, and I am sure he doesn't (cont'd..)remember. They have him heavily sedated, which is good -- can't imagine how painful heart surgery must be. Esp when you think about them (cont'd..)having to crack your sternum, ribs to get to your heart (ouch!). We are finishing our breakfast and will be heading to church and to the (cont'd..)hospital soon. We had some french toast and then Mom climbed back in to bed (I think I can hear her snorning), so I might let her zzzzz for (cont'd..)another 20 before I get her up so we can get our day started. Just to nip this one in the bud before the miscommunication starts spiraling -- Eric DID NOT get a heart last night. He had an emergency VAD (cont'd..)surgery that was pretty long -- about 8 hours -- and it was successful. They are using the VAD to keep him alive until we can find a heart (cont'd..)for him. There is still a long road ahead, but we want to celebrate this victory, because this will make him feel better in the interim. :)
With all the action going on, this one slipped by me. We omitted some of the offering that's currently available.

I am here in the hospital with #Eric now. He is sleeping. He is on a respirator and they don't expect him to wake up until tomorrow or the (cont'd..)next day. I don't want him to wake up, because I am sure he will be in a lot of pain when he does. He is heavily sedated. He has good color (cont'd..)in his face and looks peaceful. I can't wait until he is up and feeling better. Mom keeps saying she visualizes him playing hockey and (cont'd..)being active again. He is not on the transplant list now. He has to recover from his surgery, & when he is strong again & they feel he is (cont'd..)being active again. He is not on the transplant list now.
